Awaseba : The Virtual Fitting Room

with one comment

Online shoppers have been waiting for this: a software application that allows users to virtually try-on clothing and accessories on their personal computer. Now Avielon Co. is debuting one, called Awaseba.

The product is being marketed to online retailers, who can then feature the Awaseba service on their sites. A one-year rental fee for the program costs ¥630,000 (about $6,000).

In exchange, the service is free for the online shoppers, who create an account with an email address and password login. First-time users simply upload a photo of themselves onto the Awaseba server that will function as their virtual self inside the virtual fitting room.

It is inevitable that with all the online shopping going on today and the predicted growth of online sales in the future, many softwares/programs will be developed to create a more hands on/ interactive ways to shop. I read about Awaseba via the Killian Nakamura Blog, where I got sometimes to stay in tune with trends in Japan. This program does not sound phenomenal but it will definitely provoke some programmers to creat something even more clever.

Marijuana Vending Machine, Los Angeles

with 2 comments

picture-41.png

The Posso’s tipped me off to L.A. City Zine’s article, ‘The World’s First Weed ATM at Your Service”. Unbelievable! If that’s not a boobie trap than I don’t know what to call it. The world’s first marijuana vending machine is to launch on Monday, January 28th 2008, in our city of L.A. , just on the corner of Melrose and Western. All you have to do is have a club card and leave your fingerprint to the D.E.A. ;) Oh and there is one restriction, you can only buy one ounce a week, so if you truly need it, you’ re in trouble.

Future cell

without comments

Beautiful design and prototype, here is the review of what is coming next…
9. CUin5 Concept Cellphone
cuin5-1_48
CUin5 mobile phone is inspired by the big firm’s designs of a ’super-practical’ interface with the all-too-typical feature set. Every face of the phone carries a keypad, microphone, and speaker. The part you touch first gets active while all other edges are in lock mode
8. BenQSiemens Snake phone
snakyphone1_48
I am just thinking of how to operate this snaky phone. The concept phone looks like a snake and you can wrap it around your wrist.

snakyphone2_48
The looks are cool and captivating but I doubt the ease with which we will be operating this crazy snaky concept phone.
7. Dark Label Retroxis Phone
retroxis1_48
The Black Label Retroxis phone by designer Lim Sze Tat reflects a retro
approach towards design with clean aesthetics, optimum controls and functions.
retroxix22_48
It is sheathed in high genteel polycarbonate prominent for its lightweight and stiffness and the imperceptible OLED display silently hides away when inactive to make your phone look clean and stylish.
6. Onyx Concept Phone
onlyx32_48
I hope you haven’t forgotten the Onyx concept phone- first keyless touch-screen mobile phone utilizing Synaptics’ Clearpad transparent touch-sensitive capacitive sensor
5. Black Box Concept Phone
blackbox1_48
The looks of this concept phone from BenQ-Seimens are alluring enough to turn your head.
black-box11_48
Well, the Black Box changes the control layout according to the functions you use.
4. NEC Tag concept phone
nectag1_48
The concept phone has been made up of flexible material and has been named “Tag”. The flexible material used will allow this phone to change its shape according to the mode.
nectag11_48
So hang them, wear as a wristband or just wrap around the belt, these phones will never say no to a shape.
3. Nokia Aeon concept phone
aeon41_48
The Nokia Aeon concept was somehow inspired by Synaptics Onyx. The full surface touchscreen display phone concept is indeed cool and tempting but who knows? Nokia is tight-lipped to make any comments on the phone.
aeon42_48

2. Sony Ericsson Concept Phone

Though we are not sure whether this cool product is actually in works, I would love to see it get real.
ericson2_48
All that we know at the moment is its OLED display, a 3.2-megapixel camera, 2GB of storage, and an integrated FM tuner.
ericson3_48
The ultra-thin phone comes with silver accents and flip-down cover. Well Sony, we can’t wait more. Drop it down.
1. Nokia Archive Concept Phone
archive-nokia_48
The concept phone dubbed “Archive” will enable the users to share ideas at ease and pace. Virtual teamwork is made effortless through smart wireless conferencing and remote presentations. Bluetooth audio ensures strong and clear communication. When mobile technology ascends to this level, we will achieve great things together

Bluetooth and Usb Technology

without comments

I love the new product they introduced on Thinkgeek

cool_blue_tooth_fastion.jpg

The BluAlert bracelet uses Bluetooth technology to buzz discretely on your wrist when your phone rings. Even in the loudest room, or the most boisterous dance-floor, you won’t miss it when BlueAlert goes off. Even better, BluAlert acts like a security device! Once paired with your phone, if it should suddenly find itself more than 5 meters away, BlueAlert buzzes. Not only will you never miss a call, you’ll never lose your phone. :)

The M++ Card combine a business card and a usb memory system, people will remember you for sure and you’ll be able to put more informations than just your phone, address…You can put your portfolio, your music or your video for example… Amazing idea and welcome to the future ! ahah

Trekky Inspired Home Theater

without comments

Home Theater
Home Theater 2 Home Theater 3

This home theater was inspired by Enterprise NCC-1701D from Star Trek: The Next Generation. This is actually really cool. This Palm Beach, Florida home theater was named the best theme theater installation at DECIA 2007. features “motion-activated air-lock doors with series sound effects, and a “Red Alert” button on the Crestron TPMC-10 controller to turn all of the LEDs bright red and flashing. The system also features “one of the largest Kaleidescape hard-drive based storage systems” ever created, amassing eight servers with 3,816 DVDs.”

Thanks Peter Sciretta for the story!

Bag, Borrow, or Steal

My Favorite: The Fendi B. Bag

As much as we want ( some may say need) those shoes or purses, the reality is that for some of us we can’t always have every fashion accessory we may think we need. The clever people at Bag Borrow or Steal found a way to give people the opportunity to own/borrow these items!

The monthly membership can be as low as $5/year and you can pretty much borrow anything for as long as you want. You can also borrow items as a guest, but it’s definitely cheaper to register as a member. Each item is priced differently though. The red vintage Chanel purse shown above can be borrowed at $289/week or $850 a month. Or the Fendi purse ( which I personally love even more in blue patent leather) goes for $80/week or $235/month. Sometimes, if you develop a relationship with your item and just cannot give it up, you have the option of “stealing,” which really means you get to buy it for a negotiated price.

Dollface, Expressing the Futility of Vanity.

with one comment

The detail and expression in Andy Huang’s Dollface animation is done amazingly. The subtle details embellish the angst of achieving aesthetic perfection in a robotic following of mainstream media.Andy’s works have also been displayed around the world including the Smithsonian National Gallery of Art. We look forward to his future projects.

Michel Gondry Does RAZR 2 Commercial

without comments

Charming, theatrical, eccentric…Michel Gondry’s spot for the RAZR 2 is delightful. Earlier in 2007, Motorola had Gondry create a commercial for the phone. Unfortunately it was never aired (probably because it was too cool). The commercial is still very accessible in a Target commercial type of way, but you can see Gondry’s stylish visionary directive.

I kinda feel like the actress is going to bust out singing Human Behavior.

“The prophet of Futurism” , as he has been referred to, Thierry Mugler is an instinctive designer who never looks for inspiration. According to Thierry Mugler, “intellect is the servant of the spirit.”

He strongly feels that his clothing is modernistic and not futuristic. Clothes of today should have nothing to do with the past. They should create elegance with simple form and structure and add defined shape to the body, volume, form and simplicity.

The Next Generation of Legos

without comments

legos.png

Designer Jin Woo Han’s idea was to recreate autonomous interactivity between people and demonstrated this in the form of electric legos. The main circuit board performs two functions – to build upon the notch and to conduct electricity. The possibilities are endless. In this Simpsons’ example done by the artist, Marge and Homer will begin talking to each other. When you add Bart to the mix, he will be recognized and the conversation will change. If there is a t.v. in the setting, the toys will comment on what is showing.

I love the eyes on the Simpson’s lego pieces!
