Woman on Top

without comments

I just saw possibly one of the sexiest films ever made. There is something about movies that are based around the kitchen like “Chocolate” and the one I speak of now ” Woman on Top”, that are so sensual and irresistible.

Love, sex, and food combine in this sensuous romantic comedy. Isabella (Penelope Cruz) is a master chef who suffers from severe motion sickness, requiring her to be in control of her movements at all times. This need extends to the bedroom, but her husband Tonino (Murilo Benicio), who owns the restaurant where she works, doesn’t like to make love in the fashion suggested by the title. This is hardly the only thing about their relationship that she finds stifling, and when Isabella discovers Tonino in bed with another woman, she leaves for America, where with the help of cross-dressing friend “Monica” (Harold Perrineau Jr.), she becomes a star as the host of a TV cooking show, Passion Foods Live. Woman on Top was the first American film from Venezuelan director Fina Torres.

This film encompasses all of Brazil’s cliche’s in a way that leaves you with a permasmile throughout the entire film. Penelope Cruz is absolutely stunning and the passion between Isabella, her character, and Tonhino is so strong that it send your Pheromones flying in all directions.

So I’m here to confirm that yes those were Dior, Extreme Gladiator Platform shoes, that she wore in all our favorite scenes of her. Read the rest of this entry »

Gemma Ward’s New Movie

Gemma Ward

Personally, I love the models that are purely models, and not model/actress or model/anything. But, Gemma Ward will be strutting her stuff on the red carpet in Berlin, for the world premiere of her movie “The Black Balloon.” The movie was selected for the “Generation 14 Plus” youth competition of the 58th Berlin International Film Festival, which will run Feb. 7 .

Teeth Movie Trailer

without comments

Dawn, innocent teenager, discovers that she has teeth in her vagina that attacks all unsuspecting visitors. This comedy/horror film was written and directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein. It is about “the pitfalls and the power of being a living example of the vagina dentata myth.” ( IMDB)

What is a vagina dentata myth? According to Wikipedia, “the vagina dentata appears in the myths of several cultures…the myth expresses the threat sexual intercourse poses for men who, although entering triumphantly, always leave diminished.”

Guinness Beer Commercial

without comments

A really sweet, charming short filmed in an Argentinian mountainside by Nicolai Fuglsig. It took a week to film, and some sequences had to be re-shot up to 15 times. Going on their campaign, ” Good Things Come To Those Who Wait,” the game of dominoes culminates in 10,000 books flipping open to create a giant pint of Guinness.

Michel Gondry Does RAZR 2 Commercial

without comments

Charming, theatrical, eccentric…Michel Gondry’s spot for the RAZR 2 is delightful. Earlier in 2007, Motorola had Gondry create a commercial for the phone. Unfortunately it was never aired (probably because it was too cool). The commercial is still very accessible in a Target commercial type of way, but you can see Gondry’s stylish visionary directive.

I kinda feel like the actress is going to bust out singing Human Behavior.

Playboy France Tribute to 1970s Playboy

without comments

playboy.png

November 1973 was the launch of Playboy France in honor of the 1970s Playboy style. The ’70s Playmates had more of the all-natural, girl-next-door look and this was their inspiration point for the November 2007 issue with Juliette Binoche, whose photographs have a soft, ethereal approach to them.

(Did you know Karl Lagerfeld was the photographer for their October 2007 issue? )

Costumes in Darjeeling Limited

The Darjeeling Limited Marc Jacobs and Wes Anderson

The Darjeeling Limited has been a well-received movie these days, and I just read in the La Times that the movies’ quirky, polished look was a colloboration with Marc Jacobs and the director Wes Anderson. Anderson’s movies have a distinct style, just as he has his own, personalized look ( shrunken suits). These two trendsetters teamed up for new look, and the next time you watch the movie on dvd, take a closer look at the wardrobe.
