Lara Stone : Model of the Year 2008
Cyana Trendland is confident to name Lara Stone Model of the Year for 2008. I have been noticing Lara everywhere that matters for a year now and I love her more and more each time. There is something very nostalgic to me about her look, its sends me back to the 70’s , and then back to the 90’s and at the same time it is so strong today. Her gap and actually quite a bit about her remind me of Vanessa Paradis and her raw and limitless sensibility with the camera of Kate Moss. Out with the old in with the new, although I’m not sure how well that expression works here when comparing the gals at hand. I feel like every week we are announcing the new face of Miu Miu. And this time Miu Miu really dug deep into a forgotten treasure. French songstress, actress, model and wifey to our all time favorite beau Johnny Depp, Vanessa Paradis has been named the new face of Miu Miu.

wow! wow! wow! I can not even refrain from wowing here. Claudia Schiffer posing topless and in the sexiest lounge wear, looking at her absolute prime. I’ve been digging up some great old school videos of Schiffer lately, so when I saw this I really had to take do a double take to make sure it was contemporary. The June 2008 Sex issue for German VOGUE! The woman looks flawless, but I guess so do most people when touched by Testino. The only thing that came as a bit of a shocker was that it was for German VOGUE, they really went all out here.

I came across a really interesting article I archived a few years ago, which was as good as new when I re read it. Art and Culture Magazine has great word clusters with topics of articles to keep you reading for days. Here is a piece on the hidden face of fashion, a timeless figure in fashion, the one and only Marting Margiela.
Martin Margiela has been called the J. D. Salinger of the fashion world, and rightly so — he refuses to be photographed and will only be interviewed by fax. He won’t even put his name on his clothes, branding them instead with a blank label.
Margiela is perhaps the most underexposed designer around. But, in another way, he’s continually overexposed, as his collections routinely reveal the designer’s techniques and interests in their very construction. Guy Bourdin : Desire & Death in Photo
Guy Bourdin was born in Paris on the 2nd of December 1928. His father was Spanish and his mother Belgium. His parents separated when he was still an infant and his father still only 18. He went to live with his paternal grandparents who had a house in Normandy and a restaurant in Paris named Brasserie Bourdin. His father remarried and Guy moved back with him and his step-siblings. Under the Guise of doing his homework he would sketch on the napkins. There were two telephone booths side by side in the Brasserie Bourdin and every time mother called, his father or stepmother would lock him in one of them so he could speak to her. This made him terribly angry in later life and he would often tell this story. He only saw her once. she came into the restaurant and gave him a present. His abiding memory was of a made-up elegant Parisienne with pale skin and pale red hair. Hence the reason why women with pale skin and red hair haunted his pictures years later.
BOURDIN who died in March of 1991, at the age of sixty-two is, unlike his contemporaries Richard Avedon and Helmut Newton, scarcely known to the general public; within the worlds of photography and fashion, however, he is something of a legend. Read the rest of this entry »

Shoe Report For Trends in 2008
2008 is particularly exciting in womens designer footwear trends. There are a few re-occurring design concepts such as color blocking, geometry, and the use of patent and suede leather that are dominating factors of this years must have’s. More than ever I feel like shoes are making the outfit, so you don’t need much else to pull the bombshell look off. Powerful shoes for powerful women!
We are seeing a lot of chunky but clean and very sexy wedges, open toe ankle boots and just ankle boots in general, and color patch work as seen in the Prada, Fendi, Pierre Hardy and Louboutin shoes featured above. My favorite Collection of shoes this Spring is definitely the Marni Collection. I could snatch just about each pair and wear them to death.
What’s up with Kate Moss?
After our last feature on Hedi Slimane’s campaign using Kate Moss, I asked myself, what is up my favorite Moss. Latest news on Kate is that she has yet another engagement planned to yet another rocker. Kate Moss and Jamie Hince of the Kills are said to marry in September of this year. Hince seems to have a lot in common with her previous rocker beau Pete Doherty but I hope its not as bad as the infamously destructive relationship Kate and Pete shared. See more photos here. –/
