Normally North Face doesn’t really represent the type of fashion we love at Cyana Lab. North Face is known for the durability and warmth of their clothes, but not so much the design. However, when I visited North Face, I was impressed with their new fall collection for men and women. I absolutely love their dark, gun-metal gray colors, and their sleeker, more sophisticated designs. You don’t have to be cold to look dope.

This is Secrets of Charm 4th collection, and the line is as feminine as it is easy to wear. The silhouettes are delicate and the fabrics they use complement their flowy designs. Check out their complete collection at Secrets of Charm.

Can you believe the talent and portfolio behind this 23 year old graphic designer/illustrator? Argentinian designer Gianluca Fallone started his career in 2006 at Punga and is now pursuing his own development through freelance. Make sure to visit his website to see more of what he has cooked up.

“The prophet of Futurism” , as he has been referred to, Thierry Mugler is an instinctive designer who never looks for inspiration. According to Thierry Mugler, “intellect is the servant of the spirit.”

He strongly feels that his clothing is modernistic and not futuristic. Clothes of today should have nothing to do with the past. They should create elegance with simple form and structure and add defined shape to the body, volume, form and simplicity.

“Beverly Hills is suffering under the tyranny of beige,” he jokes, before adding more seriously: “The fact that Beverly Hills has no lifestyle hotel [in the area] interested me. This area needs a tremendous injection of adrenaline,” said Jason Pomeranc when speaking about Beverly Hills and his next hotel project. Pomeranc co-owner of Thompson Hotel Group, one of the sexiest collections of Hotels. Scheduled to open this month in LA is Thompson Beverly Hills. The Hotel is to replace what is now the Beverly Pavilion Hotel and bring an whole new vibe. We are expecting an outpost of famed New York sushi restaurant Bond Street on the ground floor as well as a rooftop bar & lounge called ABH (shown in the rendering above), which will be exclusively for the Guests and guests of guests.

A huge trend has risen lately in fashion; The Pop-Up Store. We have been following some of the freshest brands and Collectives popping-up in NY, LA, and London. what a better thing to do when you are visitng a place but throw together a store/ambiance where you can invite and host the people interested in your work. Paper Magazine hasnow taken it to another level. One hour ago I was at the launching of the 24 hour department store installation by Paper Magazine. what a brilliant idea and execution. I have been keeping an eye on their progress all week. They started setting up Monday to be ready by Tonight. i wanted to get there at exactly 6pm to see what it would be like outside, and as I predicted the line was growing fast and people were inpatient. I ran in to snap some pics and tell you guys all about it right away. the energy was great and the exhibitors were awesome. i cant wait to go back in the middle of the night to see what they are up to. Inside you will find exhibitors including Screaming Mimi’s, Opening Ceremony, Citizen-Citizen and many more.

For all of you Kanye fans I’m sure that his blog is no news to you. For everyone else who wants to keep up with one of pop cultures most influential icons get tuned into Kanye West’s Blog. This image is from the development sketches of his “Getting Ready for the Tour”.

So today was the launch of the Roberto Cavalli Collection for H&M. His 20 Mens looks and 25 womens looks were available at 200 selected H&M stores worldwide. But as predicted it only took one hour for everything to disappear from the floor. People were stripping the mannequins to get their hands on whatever animal print they could get. It was a huge success! We love to see how icons such as Madonna, Lagerfeld, Voctor and Rolf, and now Cavalli are translating their genius into the commercial genius of none other than H&M. Thank god for the fashion FANATICS!

Designer Jin Woo Han’s idea was to recreate autonomous interactivity between people and demonstrated this in the form of electric legos. The main circuit board performs two functions – to build upon the notch and to conduct electricity. The possibilities are endless. In this Simpsons’ example done by the artist, Marge and Homer will begin talking to each other. When you add Bart to the mix, he will be recognized and the conversation will change. If there is a t.v. in the setting, the toys will comment on what is showing.

London was hit by graffiti artist Banksy a few days ago. Most interesting though, is that a reader submitted what looks like a photo of the artist unmasked.

November 1973 was the launch of Playboy France in honor of the 1970s Playboy style. The ’70s Playmates had more of the all-natural, girl-next-door look and this was their inspiration point for the November 2007 issue with Juliette Binoche,whose photographs have a soft, ethereal approach to them.

These two trendsetters teamed up for new look, and the next time you watch the movie on dvd, take a closer look at the wardrobe.

We all know by now that Halloween is just an excuse to get ho’ed out, show as much skin as possible and get laid easily. Well its been a full week of Halloween events. People started dressing up last Thursday and the festivities continued thru last night. Saturday night I had a serious check when I went to a Party in the Hollywood Hills, which I would only find out was a porn party after arriving. I was dressed as a tennis club member from Club 55, St. Tropez (1970’s). I didn’t feel like getting fully decked out 5 days before Halloween so I played it safe and subtle. Big mistake! Somehow being the most dressed made me feel the most exposed and I was the target of porn stars. So last night I had to get in my sexy time. Couldn’t get naked but had to show a little of the fierce woman power, and Cat Woman was the fix for me.

The MOCA Museum had their opening party for © Murakami. Takashi Murakami held a press review and briefly spoke of commerce and the fact that money is important. His ability to take Japanese anime and manga concepts and create pieces of fine art made way for his collaboration with Louis Vuitton. The opening party was packed ( Pharrel Williams and Kanye West were seen heading to the VIP area!) and there was a long line of people waiting to enter the Louis Vuitton store, now open at the MOCA!!! This is the first time Louis Vuitton has done something like this, and it reflects how well-regarded Murakami has become.

This news, along with Halloween coming up, made me remember that it’s been about 6 months since Isabella Blow, who rocked the coolest and most avant-garde hats, passed away. Along with being an international style icon, director, and muse, she discovered model Sophie Dahl and designer Alexander McQueen.Though she is no longer with us , her mark on fashion continues. The late Isabella Blow and David LaChapelle.

New designers come out every ten minutes. The Olsen twins find a unique way to showcase their line sans runway show. They feature someone dressing themselves at home, a reflection of the twin’s styling techniques.

I once found a great Perfecto jacket at a secondhand store in California; it was really small, probably a child’s size. I loved it because most people were still wearing hippie-dresses to the floor back then, and we were much tougher with our straight-legged pants and narrow lapels – I guess you would have called our look Euro-mod. I used to hang around the New York Dolls, and they were definitely into those jackets. I remember having one that was black on the outside with red pleats in the back. Eventually, I started noticing lots of women in the music scene doing a “West Side Story” kind of tough-girl look with motorcycle jackets in different colors. My friend Stephen Sprouse did a cartoonlike version of the Perfecto, which I loved because it was almost to the knees. It’s cool that these jackets keep coming back – biker style is an American classic.

26 year-old product designer, Vladi Rapaport has created a beautiful life-size leather robot, complete with five speakers and a subwoofer for a total of 300W system. This robot design allows you to move the robot in many human positions and occupy your personal space as guest would. It’s hard to manifest in my words the power and layers of documentation that Gabriel Mendes achieves in his photos. He has been exploring this concept of street art and street profiles for more than 3 years and his photos feel more and more alive as this project continues to come together. This photograph made me gasp! Brazilian model Raika, styled for this street profile in queens right near PS1 Contemporary Art Musuem is approached by these two archival characters of our time. “Where did they come from” i kept asking, I cant imagine a more perfect visual brew. So fucking rock roll its almost ridiculous. I mean the hair, the vests, the skinny as hell jailbreaker and plaid pants (pants,no, leggings!), the boom box , the arts and crafts Chanel rebel skateboard, the cigarettes and THE FUCKING ATTITUDE! Someone throw me a freakin’ bone here.

It is published bi-annually, coinciding with New York Fashion week, and explores the worlds of fashion, both past and present, commercial and underground. The latest issue of MAO MAG features artists,designers,performers, and models who have a distinctive presence uniquely their own. MM continues to explore pop culture icons who continue to influence the world today. Last week while in New York I picked up issue #7 of Mao Mag at Ressurection in Nolita because it was all Barbied out and reminded me of the shoot I did just before leaving LA. This cover of British Vogue is a major mark in time for me. Its brilliance will haunt me forever. The over exposed light, the cool colors and Agyness Deyn’s face. I cant imagine a better composition…Perfection as i see it!
