The Agyness Deyn Mannequin

without comments

An “unofficial” unveiling of the Agyness mannequin was held by Mao PR at the Rootstein Mannequin Gallery. One of the best resources for custom made mannequins in the world. The first time I went there I was in utter awe, it was better than going to the wax museum, kind of eery in the same way but phenomenal executions of the most realistic looking mannequins I have ever seen.

Agyness joins other model notables who’ve had their features eternalized such as Twiggy, Pat Cleveland, Erin O’Connor, Jade Parfitt and Karen Mulder. – Photo MDC

Just really like this kind of Street Art
Seen on 9th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues: Pixel graffiti. The piece was tagged at little while later. ( soo Sad ) That would be cool to see this kind of graffiti popping a little bit everywhere…

LEGO Man : Nathan Sawaya

without comments

Flying Back from NY yesterday, I was flipping through the American Airlines Magazine and found an article on LEGO Sculptor Nathan Sawaya, which lead me into my next nap and a whole new set of dreams. Like many of us Sawaya had a childhood obsession with LEGO’s, possible the most brilliant toy ever invented, but his obsession exceeded his childhood and led him into the career of a lifetime. Shortly after he had started to produce and document these sculptures in 2000, Sawaya was recognized and hired by LEGO as a master sculptor. This was a short lived career since it only took him a few months to realize that he did not need LEGO to continue this passion and work. He was being commissioned pieces from all over the world, which were selling for up to $65,000. As my nap continued I dreamt of a couture collection of tailored garments that I would commission Sawaya to produce for a private exhibition in Dubai. So if this inspires you like it did me you can contact Nathan Sawaya, LEGO master through his website, Brick Artist.

It has been nearly 2 years since artists Leonardo Delafuente and Anderson Augusto started 6emeia, an urban beautification art project. 6emeia promotes a new kind of language between city/art and art/people, thus improving the way and the passage of passer-byers and inhabitants. The Artists choice of taking sewers, otherwise disregarded by society, and modifying them into geometric cartoons, coloring a gray urban city and bringing art to the streets.

Henk Hofstra’s Blue Road

with 2 comments

henke-blue.jpg Henk Hofstra Blue Road
Henk Hofstra Blue Road Henk Hofstra Blue Road
Henk Hofstra created an urban river in Drachten, The Netherlands. His “Blue Road” installation features 1000 meters of a blue painted road and the phrase ” Water is Life” written in eight-meter-high letters across it. The Blue Road is reminscent of the waterway that used to be where the road is now. A memorial to nature, it is an intriguing artistic gesture to reinforce the street as a space and place. Keep checking Google Earth to see if it will show up on the map.
Thanks to Wooster Collective for the photos!

Beyond Fashion…

with 2 comments

Screenshot_31.pngScreenshot_6.png

Following the work of Henrik Vibskov has been a great inspiration for me.
Whenever I am feeling discouraged by the lack of ideas and presence of
new designers I turn to the Virtual World of Henrik Vibskov. The image
above is from an installation called “LAND OF BLACK CARROTS”. It was
built for the exhibition of his AW0708 Collection in Paris at Galerie Richard.
Henrik is able to add a dimention of fantasy to his design that pulls the viewers
into a world he has created. The clothing is just an accessory to that fantasy.
